This Sunday Pastor Joey challenged the church to not only come in and worship Jesus who is God, but also to go out and share the love we have for Christ. We should be a river that overflows with the love that Christ has poured into our lives. What an awesome and intense challenge the Pastor has given Life Unlimited for the upcoming year.
But he said to him, “A man once gave a great banquet and invited many. And at the time for the banquet he sent his servant to say to those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’ But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a field, and I must go out and see it. Please have me excused.’ And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to examine them. Please have me excused.’ And another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.’ So the servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house became angry and said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly to the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in the poor and crippled and blind and lame.’ And the servant said, ‘Sir, what you commanded has been done, and still there is room.’ And the master said to the servant, ‘Go out to the highways and hedges and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled. Luke 14:16-23 ESV
In light of this parable from Jesus and the challenge from Pastor Joey to “go out” and “compel” others I have reposted the testimony worksheet for us to think about what we would say as we share Jesus to those in the city and those on the highways. Lord I pray that you would encourage and strengthen Life Unlimited this year to be your witness.
Our salvation came from hearing the gospel and our hearing can be traced back to the day of Pentecost where the chain of witnesses started unbroken and unashamed to this day.
“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them” Romans 10:14-15 NIV
“Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.” Romans 10:17 NIV
The first step in sharing Jesus and the Good News of what He did on the cross is to be able to tell others your own story.
“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect” 1 Peter 3:15 NIV
This testimony should be your personal narrative on how God interceded, saved you, and is now Lord of your life. You should be able to tell this testimony to anyone within just a few minutes as part of a normal conversation.
1. BEFORE – Give a brief summary of life before knowing Christ.
2. CIRCUMSTANCE – What happened that brought you into a saving faith, and relationship with Christ?
3. AFTER – What is going on now in your life. How is your relationship with Christ at this moment?
