How did we get here? People hate each other. The political is so emotional that people can’t stand to be around each other. Wars between neighboring countries are ongoing. Citizens in cities are not safe to be out on the town without being robed, beaten, or killed by random brazen crazy. And to be honest this is nothing new. The blood thirstiness of man and his capacity to harm others is frightening. This world can’t be my home.

People Ruin Everything

God knew we would be this way. He made a garden where people could fellowship with him. Where people could learn from him. God wanted a relationship with you and me. But we, people, just ruin good things. Something starts out with a small group of like-minded souls and it is hip. Then it becomes popular and sure enough people ruin it. Every single time.

[God] drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life. Genesis 3:24 ESV

Kicked out

In Genesis Chapter 3 God has an open rebellion on his hands. He had one rule. Just one single rule. Don’t eat the fruit from this tree. Of course, people were going to eat from that tree. If not Adam and Eve it would have been their kids. So because of this God kicked them out of the Garden of Eden. Sounds harsh but people ruin everything so God did not have a choice. Specifically, it says he drove them out גָּרַשׁ (gāraš) which means to drive out from a possession; especially to expatriate or divorce. An expatriate is a person that leaves their home country to live in another country. Adam and Eve were forced to leave Eden. They are no longer citizens of Eden. God knew the result of sin would be evil in his Holy domain.

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21 ESV

A Fallen World

Do you dear reader see yourself in any of these “evident” works of sin? I know I identify with a number of them. How did we get here? Our selfish works of the flesh, our sins, brought us here.

We have been cast out of God’s Garden and forced to be expatriates in a fallen place. But fear not and do not despair! This cursed world is temporary. God put an expiration date on this world and on the physical bodies we currently inhabit. There is no fountain of youth for us in this evil place. God’s plan from the beginning is to bring us back inside of his perfect and Holy home where we would have eternal abundant life. Have you heard of Jesus and what he did on the cross?

So Jesus also suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify the people through his own blood. 13 Therefore let us go to him outside the camp and bear the reproach he endured. 14 For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come. Hebrews 13:12-14 ESV

I am Ready to go Home

We now have a choice. That choice is to vainly try to make this evil cursed world our permanent home. Or we can seek Jesus and the camp of refuges that long for an eternal home with God. God made a repatriation program for you and for me if we want it. God’s intent is for people to be repatriated into a kingdom without sin. I know what I want.

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God John 1:12 ESV
